What Is Tesla Android OS

Tesla is one of the many community builds that come out of the Android-Generic project — a shared codebase that lets independent maintainers package Android for x86_64 PCs with their own driver and GApps configuration. This particular build carries the "cros-hd cros-wv" driver set in its filename, meaning it ships with ChromeOS-derived hardware video decode and Widevine DRM support baked in, so video playback stays smooth even on integrated graphics.

Because it's built for low-resource machines first, Tesla trims away a lot of what a stock Android build assumes you have — extra background services, heavy live wallpapers, and unnecessary system apps — keeping RAM and CPU overhead low. GMS (Google Mobile Services) is bundled in, so the Play Store and Google account sign-in work right after setup with no extra patching.

How To Install

NOTE: Back up your data first. Installing to a hard drive will format the target partition.

Flash it to a USB drive using Rufus (Windows) or BalenaEtcher — minimum 4GB USB stick.

Boot from the USB by entering your PC's boot menu (usually F12, F11, or Esc at startup).

Choose Live or Install — Live lets you try it without touching your drive, Install writes it permanently.
