I CONVERTED My PC into an ANDROID TV (LIVE CHANNEL SUPPORTED)

Hey tech enthusiasts! Welcome back to Tech Decode Official, your go-to spot for all things Android, tech hacks, and custom OS adventures. If you've been dreaming of turning your old PC into a full-fledged Android TV with live channel support, you're in luck. In this post, I'll walk you through how I did it using Bliss OS – the same awesome Android-based OS that lets you run Android apps on your PC. It's lightweight, customizable, and perfect for streaming live TV channels right from your desktop or laptop.

Bliss OS is based on Android 13 or later, and with a few tweaks, you can set it up as an Android TV interface. This means access to Google Play Store, Kodi, Plex, and even live TV apps like IPTV Smarters or TiviMate for watching channels. No need for expensive hardware – just your PC and some free software. Let's dive in!

Why Bliss OS for Android TV?

Bliss OS is a fork of Android-x86, optimized for PCs. It supports dual-boot, runs smoothly on most hardware, and can be themed to look like Android TV. Plus, it has built-in support for live streaming apps, making it ideal for cord-cutting. I tested this on my Intel i5 PC with 8GB RAM, and it worked flawlessly.

Pros:

  • Free and open-source.
  • Supports live TV apps with channel guides.
  • Customizable launcher for TV-like experience.

Cons:

  • Requires some technical know-how for setup.
  • Not as polished as official Android TV boxes.

What You'll Need

  • A PC with at least 4GB RAM and 20GB free storage (Intel/AMD preferred).
  • USB drive (8GB or more) for booting.
  • Bliss OS ISO file (download from the official site).
  • Rufus or Etcher for creating a bootable USB.
  • Optional: A TV tuner or IPTV subscription for live channels.

Step-by-Step Guide to Convert Your PC into Android TV

Step 1: Download Bliss OS ISO

Head over to the official Bliss OS website (blissos.org) and grab the latest ISO. Choose the version with Android TV support if available, or the standard one – we'll customize it later.

Step 2: Create a Bootable USB

Use Rufus to flash the ISO onto your USB drive. Select the ISO file, choose GPT for UEFI systems, and hit start. This will take a few minutes.

Step 3: Boot into Bliss OS

Restart your PC and enter BIOS (usually F2, F10, or Del key). Set USB as the first boot device. Save and exit. Your PC will boot into Bliss OS installer.

Step 4: Install Bliss OS

In the installer, select your language, agree to terms, and choose "Install Bliss OS". Pick your hard drive partition (I recommend dual-booting with Windows). Enable "Install GRUB" for easy booting.

Step 5: Set Up Android TV Interface

After installation, boot into Bliss OS. Go to Settings > Apps > Default Apps, and set the launcher to something TV-friendly. Install "Leanback Launcher" from the Play Store for a true Android TV feel.

Step 6: Install Live TV Apps

Open Google Play Store and download apps like:

  • IPTV Smarters Pro (for live channels via M3U playlists).
  • TiviMate (premium TV guide and EPG support).
  • Kodi (with add-ons for streaming).

For live channels, you'll need an IPTV service. I used a free trial from a provider like IPTV Smarters – just input your M3U URL in the app.

Step 7: Customize and Test

Connect your PC to a TV via HDMI for the full experience. Adjust resolution in Settings > Display. Test live channels – I streamed HD sports and news without lag!

Troubleshooting Tips

  • If booting fails, disable Secure Boot in BIOS.
  • For audio issues, install drivers via Bliss OS settings.
  • Low performance? Allocate more RAM in GRUB (edit /etc/default/grub).
